SHIMA SEIKI to showcase digital product creation at Apparel Sourcing Week

APEXFiz® © 2026 SHIMA SEIKI
Leading digital textile solutions provider SHIMA SEIKI MFG., LTD. of Wakayama, Japan will exhibit at Apparel Sourcing Week 2026 in Bengaluru, India next month. The exhibition provides a platform for the entire apparel value chain, bringing together manufacturers, brands, suppliers and solution providers in one location.

Particular interest lies with efficient and sustainable solutions, and SHIMA SEIKI addresses this growing interest through optimized product development workflows made possible with Digital Product Creation (DPC) performed on its design software.

DPC is achieved with SHIMA SEIKI’s APEXFiz® subscription-based design software, which digitally supports the creative side of fashion from planning and design to realistic textile simulation and 3D virtual sampling for flat knitting. Using scanned data of actual yarn, digital products created on APEXFiz® are a digitized version of sample making that are accurate enough to be used effectively as 3D prototypes, replacing physical sampling and consequently reducing time, cost and material that otherwise go to waste. When a design is approved for production, knitting data which is automatically generated can be converted easily into machine data, for real-world production of digitally developed products. As with knit simulations, fabric simulations of other types of textiles such as weaving, circular knitting, printing and embroidery are also very realistic, and many users opt to utilize APEXFiz® alongside other 3D software. APEXFiz® promotes automation and labor-savings from product development to prototyping and production in many areas, thereby contributing to digitalization and sustainability for supply chains across several different disciplines.

Apparel Sourcing Week 2026 will take place from October 7–8 at the Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center in Bengaluru, India. Organized by Apparel Resources Pvt. Ltd., the event will be open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on both days. SHIMA SEIKI will exhibit at booths SP23–SP24, where the company will present its APEXFiz® Design 3D design software.

An eco-friendly alternative to fluorocarbon treatments

Protective and outdoor clothing derives its durable water-, dirt- and oil- repellent properties from the application of fluorinated polymers or per- and polyfluorinated low-molecular- weight chemicals (PFCs). The beneficial properties thus achieved on textiles are offset by environmental and human health risks. For manufacturers of sports, medical, protective and automotive textiles, researchers at the Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V. and the Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research have developed liquid-applied dispersions and solutions to functionalise textiles without the use of fluorine.
