INVISTA’s Longview Site achieves ISCC PLUS certification for Polypropylene

INVISTA, a global leader in the manufacture of chemical intermediates, polymers and fibers for the nylon and polypropylene value chains, announces that its Longview, Texas, site has been awarded ISCC PLUS certification.

This certification enables INVISTA to offer ISCC PLUS-certified polypropylene (PP) from its Longview facility, providing customers with bio, bio-circular and circular (“ISCC PLUS-certified”) drop-in alternatives with the same performance characteristics as conventional PP.

“ISCC PLUS certification demonstrates our commitment to delivering solutions our customers value and our Stewardship Framework,” said Julie Pippitt, VP of Innovation and Strategic Growth at INVISTA. “It opens our full portfolio of over 100 polypropylene grades to customers looking for bio, bio-circular, and circular options, and also reinforces our dedication to responsible sourcing and traceability.”

ISCC PLUS-certified polypropylene from INVISTA’s Longview site can support a broad range of applications including medical, food packaging, and consumer products. The company has already commercialized mechanical post-consumer recycled (PCR) blends ranging from 15% to 50% PCR. The ISCC PLUS certification expands optionality for customers looking for bio or other circular solutions. Some customers are even looking to use these ISCC PLUS-certified solutions in combination with mechanical PCR.

“The ability to combine ISCC PLUS-certified materials with our mechanical PCR blends is a differentiator,” said Pippitt. “Customers get more choices for meeting their goals with minimal disruption to their current processes.”

ISCC PLUS is a global certification system that uses fully independent, external audits to verify the sourcing and traceability of biomass and circular products applying a mass-balance approach. It validates consistency with environmental, social, and governance criteria throughout the supply chain, and the certification provides assurance to consumers and stakeholders regarding the production practices and use of resources.

The certification of the Longview site builds on INVISTA’s growing network of ISCC PLUS-certified facilities. Other certified sites include INVISTA’s facilities in Victoria, Texas, and Kingston, Ontario (Canada)—both key contributors to the nylon value chain. Additionally, INVISTA is actively pursuing ISCC PLUS certifications for its nylon production facilities in Shanghai (China) and Rozenburg (The Netherlands).
