Eastman Naia™ debuts at Kingpins Amsterdam, transforming Denim from the inside out
At the centre of the presentation is the concept of transforming denim from the inside out. While maintaining its authentic look and structure, Naia™ Renew enhances the fabric internally, combining softness, performance and responsible material innovation. The fiber enables denim fabrics with lasting cotton-like softness, confirmed by flexural rigidity testing, as well as a dry feel that remains stable even in high heat and humidity without clinging to the skin. This is complemented by effective odor management, supporting comfort throughout the day.
Naia™ Renew is produced from 60% sustainably sourced wood pulp and 40% GRS-certified recycled waste material. The fiber can be blended with other materials and adapted to a wide range of constructions, from structured outerwear to lightweight denim shirts. This flexibility opens up new design possibilities and supports versatile denim developments.
Three key design directions illustrate this approach: authentic, fashion and performance. Each concept is based on specific fiber blends, including cotton, lyocell and functional polyesters, demonstrating how Naia™ can enhance both traditional denim constructions and more experimental designs while maintaining comfort as a core element.
The concept is further showcased in a capsule collection developed in collaboration with Advance Denim and U.S.-based designer Loren Cronk. The collection applies an inside-out construction approach, making the technical properties of the fiber visible. Light blue weft yarns made with Naia™ Renew, typically hidden within the fabric, are intentionally exposed to create contrast and highlight the internal structure of the denim.
This exploration of material and design also extends beyond industry collaborations. Naia™ partnered with Marmara University to support the “2025 Graduation Projects Fashion Show,” where students were invited to experiment with different applications of Naia™ fibers across both filament and staple formats, including denim.
The projects focused on creating garments that combine performance, circularity and design. The initiative provides insight into the next generation of designers and highlights how emerging talents approach fashion with a strong emphasis on purpose, creativity and responsibility.
