Mahlo introduces AI-supported Orthopac RVMC-20 plus at ITMA Asia 2026

New straightening system combines intelligent distortion correction with integrated process control for improved fabric quality and resource efficiency

From November 20 to 24, 2026, Mahlo GmbH + Co. KG will present its system portfolio for the textile industry at ITMA Asia in Shanghai. Together with its local sales and service partner Kuantex and Mahlo China, the Bavarian technology specialist will demonstrate at Booth C22 in Hall 7.1 how intelligent measurement and control technology can improve the quality and efficiency of textile production processes. The spotlight will be on the new Orthopac RVMC-20 plus, which combines precise weft straightening with fully integrated process control.

With the Orthopac RVMC-20 plus, Mahlo has further developed its technology for fully automatic distortion correction and introduced a more cost-effective alternative to its flagship model, the Orthopac RXVMC-20. Like the RXVMC-20, the new system combines two scanning units at the fabric infeed and outfeed with AI-supported control technology.

While the feed-forward control system detects distortions before the straightening rollers, the closed-loop control system monitors the results at the outfeed and provides direct feedback to the controller, enabling continuous weft correction in real time.

The interaction of both control loops is designed to ensure uniform fabric quality even under changing distortion conditions and at high production speeds, while reducing waste during batch changes.

Process control for greater efficiency and sustainability

The straightening technology is complemented by integrated process control via the Optipac VMC-15. The system continuously monitors relevant parameters online, including dwell time, weft density, residual moisture and exhaust air humidity, directly on the moving fabric web, thereby increasing transparency throughout the production process.

Continuous monitoring helps detect deviations at an early stage and enables more targeted use of resources. For example, it can prevent unnecessary energy consumption caused by overdrying, support exhaust air optimisation, reduce fabric discolouration resulting from excessive dwell times and minimise inconsistencies within the fabric web.

At the same time, waste and raw material consumption can be reduced. According to Mahlo, the combination of weft straightening and process control contributes to more efficient, economical and resource-saving textile finishing.

Different solutions for different production requirements

With the Orthopac RVMC-20 plus, Mahlo expands its family of straightening machines with another solution for demanding applications.

The portfolio ranges from the Orthopac RVMC-15 as a standard weft straightener to the RVMC-20 plus with additional scanning at the fabric infeed and the Orthopac RXVMC-20 as a high-end system featuring two independent straightening modules.

This range enables Mahlo to address different production requirements, sustainability objectives and quality standards.

The company emphasises that requirements in textile production vary considerably depending on the application. Its broad portfolio is therefore designed to provide solutions tailored to both the technical requirements and the economic objectives of individual customers.

Smart Quality Control for Technical Textiles

In the end, what matters is the result: a filter that performs reliably, a membrane that remains stable in storm conditions, a composite material with precisely defined properties. But the path to achieving this is demanding. In the production of technical textiles, numerous parameters interact – and even the smallest deviations can have major consequences.

New Gravimax MMX-R X-ray sensor platform opens up new application fields

The demands placed on quality control in web-based production processes are increasing: materials are becoming more complex, basis weights are varying more widely, and at the same time, pressure is growing to make processes more efficient and transparent. Precise measurement data across the entire web width has therefore become a key factor in ensuring stable production processes. With its new Gravimax MMX-R sensor platform, Mahlo introduces a radiometric measurement solution designed to set new standards in determining basis weight and material composition. The platform combines advanced X-ray technology with newly developed signal processing, enabling measurement tasks that previously often required multiple sensor technologies.
