Inside the Making connects denim and sportswear supply chains at Ecomondo 2026

Six European companies are joining forces at Ecomondo 2026 in Rimini to demonstrate how different stages of denim and sportswear production are interconnected. The new initiative, Inside the Making, highlights the importance of cooperation across the textile supply chain in addressing sustainability challenges, from reducing resource consumption to improving transparency and the reliability of environmental claims.

Inside the Making, a special project curated by Menabò Group, strategic partner of Ecomondo's Textile District, is being presented from 3 to 6 November 2026 at the Rimini Expo Centre. In Hall D2, Stand 105, six companies represent different stages of textile and garment production: C&S (garment manufacturing), ACM (trims and accessories), Jeanologia (finishing technologies), Green Lab (garment dyeing and washing), NextPrinting (digital printing) and Menabò Group (branding and communications).

The initiative addresses the fragmented nature of textile supply chains. While individual companies typically present their own technologies and services at trade fairs, the production of a finished garment involves multiple interconnected processes. Decisions made at one stage can influence resource consumption, product quality and environmental performance at subsequent stages.

This interdependence is particularly relevant to sustainability. Reducing water and chemical consumption in dyeing and finishing, improving production efficiency and substantiating environmental claims require cooperation and reliable information across the supply chain.

The initiative also comes at a time of increasing regulatory requirements. Since 27 September 2026, new EU rules under Directive (EU) 2024/825 have been scheduled to apply through national legislation, introducing stricter requirements for environmental claims in consumer-facing communications.

Six companies representing different production stages

C&S – Garment manufacturing

Based in Umbertide, Italy, C&S manufactures denim and high-end garments for international brands. The company combines Italian manufacturing expertise with research into materials and production processes and holds certifications including SA8000, GRS, OCS, GOTS and RCS.

ACM – Trims and accessories

ACM, based in the Bergamo manufacturing region, develops customised accessories and trims for fashion and denim applications. Its portfolio includes buttons, fasteners, metal components, leather details and technical accessories, supported by research into new finishes and GRS-certified recycled materials.

Jeanologia – Finishing technologies

Jeanologia contributes technologies for denim finishing, including laser, G2 ozone and e-Flow systems designed to reduce water consumption, chemical use and manual processing compared with conventional methods. Its EIM platform also supports the measurement of environmental impacts across different stages of garment production.

Green Lab – Garment dyeing and washing

Based in Grottammare, Green Lab specialises in garment dyeing, washing and finishing for denim and casualwear. The company uses laser, ozone and nebulisation technologies to reduce water, energy and chemical consumption compared with conventional processes.

NextPrinting – Digital printing

Part of the ACM Group, NextPrinting specialises in digital pigment and transfer printing for textiles and leather. Its technologies enable realistic surface effects while aiming to reduce water and energy consumption, chemical use and waste generation.

Menabò Group – Branding and communication

Menabò Group provides branding and communication services across the textile value chain. Its approach focuses on communicating product characteristics, manufacturing processes and sustainability information based on documented data and certifications. The company also curates the Inside the Making initiative.

Panel discussion on connected textile production

On Thursday, 5 November 2026, from 16:00 to 17:00, representatives of the participating companies will discuss the relationship between connected technologies, production processes and sustainability during the panel session "Inside the Making: The Power of the Process".

The discussion will take place in the Textile District Workshop Area in Hall D2 and will be moderated by Marco Lucietti, Professor of Governance and Sustainability for Fashion Companies at Sapienza University.

Participants include Federico Corneli, CEO of C&S; Carmen Silla, Global Marketing Director at Jeanologia; Carlo Cossiri, Partner and Plant Manager at Green Lab; Barbara Gnutti, representing ACM and NextPrinting; and Margherita Verlicchi, Partner and Brand Strategist at Menabò Group.

The discussion will examine how connected technologies are changing denim and sportswear production and how cooperation between companies can contribute to more efficient and transparent manufacturing processes.

Jeanologia and BCome connect factory data with Life Cycle Assessment and Digital Product Passports

A new white paper by EIM by Jeanologia and BCome demonstrates how primary environmental data from denim finishing processes can be integrated into a garment's Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and prepared for use in a Digital Product Passport (DPP). A comparative case study highlights significant improvements at the production stage while also showing how these translate into the environmental performance of the finished garment.
