Global Standard strengthens presence in Southeast Asia at VIATT 2026

Global Standard will participate in the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies (VIATT) 2026, organized by Messe Frankfurt, the first textile trade show in the APAC region this year. Global Standard will host a booth and Felica Shi will lead a seminar on Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The trade fair will take place from February 26 to 28, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Powered by growing exports, domestic demand, and a tech-driven sustainable transition, ASEAN's textile industry is booming. Reinforcing its role as the premier trade platform, VIATT 2026 is scaling up with the debut of dedicated zones for Fashion accessories, Designer’s collections, and Textile chemicals & dyes, by covering the entire textile industrial chain, VIATT will unlock greater opportunities for the industry.

This year, Global Standard will join the fair as part of the German Pavilion. This dedicated pavilion is a strategic initiative designed to bridge Germany's leadership in advanced textile technologies and sustainable innovation with the dynamic growth and evolving demands of Southeast Asia's textile sector.

Global Standard is pleased to announce the release of GOTS Version 8.0, the latest update to the world's leading processing standard for organic textiles. The updated Standard strengthens requirements for air emissions and waste management, as well as criteria for product safety. It introduces new provisions on circularity, microfibre management and updates in residue testing. Version 8.0 also elevates due diligence obligations and formalises governance requirements, including ESG disclosure, anti-corruption policies and conflict-of-interest safeguards, to support credible, responsible business conduct.

GOTS publishes update: Approval procedure & requirements for certification bodies – Version 4.0

The updated Version 4.0 has been aligned with the requirements of ISO 17065 and incorporates revised conformity assessment procedures and methodologies for Certification Bodies. These updates reflect best practices in evaluating management systems, thereby strengthening quality assurance, and safeguarding the integrity of certified products.

Messe Frankfurt and its Texpertise Network continue their steady, successful trajectory in the region. As Africa Sourcing and Fashion Week (ASFW) opened today, Member of the Executive Board Detlef Braun announced that Messe Frankfurt is licencing its three leading international trade fair brands Texworld, Apparel Sourcing and Texprocess to Nairobi, Kenya for the first time in 2027. Texhibition Istanbul signals stability and global connectivity

From 4 to 6 March 2026, Texhibition Istanbul once again brought together the international textile industry at the Istanbul Expo Center. Organized by İTKİB Fuarcılık A.Ş. in cooperation with the Istanbul Textile Exporters Association (İTHİB), the fair confirmed its role as one of the most important international sourcing platforms for fabrics and textile innovation. With 500+ exhibitors across 5 halls on 42,850 sqm, the trade fair attracted 19,325 visitors.
