Freudenberg and UMT present expanded advanced wound care portfolio at COMPAMED 2026
The combined portfolio brings together gelling wound dressings, silicone-coated foam technologies and non-invasive wound closure solutions, with Tacnera® among the key innovations.
The companies will exhibit at Booth H01 in Hall 8b, together with sister company Freudenberg Medical.
Complementary technologies for advanced wound care
The combined portfolio includes wound dressings based on carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), alginate and chitosan, as well as nonwovens, foams and activated carbon solutions for stoma care.
A particular focus will be on gelling wound dressings designed for effective exudate management. These materials absorb wound fluid and form a gel, helping to maintain a suitable wound environment. They are particularly relevant for chronic and complex wounds where moisture management plays an important role.
UMT contributes expertise in the development and manufacture of these materials, complementing Freudenberg's existing portfolio of medical textiles and wound care technologies.
Tacnera® technology combines adhesion and gentle wound contact
Another highlight at COMPAMED will be Freudenberg's Tacnera® technology for silicone-coated foam dressings.
The technology addresses the challenge of combining secure dressing fixation with gentle removal. While strong adhesion at the edges ensures reliable positioning, the ultra-soft Tacnera® island zone is designed to protect sensitive wound structures and newly formed epithelial tissue.
According to Freudenberg, Tacnera® technology has been approved for use in several products since September 2026, with commercial availability expected soon.
The technology can also be combined with UMT's primary wound dressings to create integrated wound care solutions.
A primary dressing based on CMC, alginate or chitosan absorbs exudate within the wound bed and supports moisture management. An overlying Tacnera® foam dressing provides additional protection and fixation while conforming to the wound area to help reduce dead space and the accumulation of wound fluid.
The combination is intended to bring together complementary material properties within a coordinated wound care concept.
Integrated development and manufacturing capabilities
Beyond individual products, the merger of Freudenberg Performance Materials and UMT is intended to provide customers with broader development, manufacturing and application expertise.
“Today, customers are increasingly looking for integrated solutions that help them accelerate development processes, simplify supply chains, and meet regulatory requirements. By combining Freudenberg’s material expertise and global market presence with UMT’s development, manufacturing and application know-how, we can support customers throughout the entire product life cycle”, explains Shirley Xu, Senior Business Development Manager at Freudenberg Performance Materials.
At COMPAMED 2026, visitors will be able to explore the combined portfolio, including gelling wound dressings, Tacnera® silicone-coated foam technologies, non-invasive wound closure solutions and additional materials for medical applications.
The presentation highlights the increasing importance of combining specialised textile materials and functional technologies to develop integrated solutions for advanced wound care.
