Textile Exchange unveils agenda for 2026 conference in Vancouver

Focus on implementation, collaboration, and scaling proven solutions

Textile Exchange has released the agenda for its 2026 Conference, which will take place from October 12–16 in Vancouver, Canada. Under the theme “The Implementation Era,” the event will focus on translating sustainability commitments into practical action and scaling solutions across businesses, supply systems, and landscapes.

Bringing together brands, material producers, supply chain partners, innovators, academics, nonprofit organizations, and other industry stakeholders, the conference aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration throughout the fashion, textile, and apparel sector.

Three days focused on implementation

The conference program is structured around three thematic days designed to address different aspects of sustainability implementation.

The first day, “Finding Common Ground across Different Contexts,” will explore the diverse realities influencing sustainability decisions, ranging from policy frameworks and corporate targets to practical experiences on the ground. Through a variety of session formats, participants will examine different perspectives across supply systems and identify opportunities for greater alignment.

The second day, “Leveraging Existing Systems and Solutions,” will focus on how existing tools, frameworks, data resources, funding mechanisms, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence can be used more effectively to accelerate progress. Discussions will examine how the industry can build on available resources rather than creating entirely new systems.

The third day, “Activating Progress through Collaboration,” will highlight the role of partnerships and collective action in driving large-scale transformation. Sessions will address cross-industry cooperation, overcoming economic barriers, and strategies for scaling preferred production systems through collaboration.

Learning pathways return

Following their introduction in 2025, Textile Exchange will once again offer learning pathways designed to help participants navigate the conference program. These curated tracks group related sessions together, enabling attendees to focus on topics that best match their professional interests and objectives.

Awards, field trips, and networking opportunities

Beyond the formal conference agenda, participants can take part in a range of additional activities. The Climate and Nature Impact Awards will recognize individuals and partnerships contributing to a regenerative and equitable materials economy.

Field trips, scheduled for the final day of the conference, will provide opportunities to experience sustainability initiatives and innovations firsthand. Textile Exchange is currently inviting material producers in and around Vancouver to participate by hosting field visits.

The event will also feature an exhibit hall showcasing products, services, and innovations from across the industry, as well as opportunities for side meetings focused on specific topics and stakeholder groups.

Gathering on Indigenous territories

The 2026 Textile Exchange Conference will take place on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Textile Exchange acknowledged the strength, endurance, and resilience of these Nations and expressed its solidarity.

The conference is expected to attract participants from across the global textile and apparel value chain seeking practical approaches to implementing sustainability strategies at scale.

Textile Exchange: reporting companies advance on preferred materials as global fiber production reaches new high

Companies participating in Textile Exchange’s Materials Benchmark increased their use of materials from preferred production systems in 2025, while global fiber production continued to grow and reached a record 139 million tonnes. The contrasting trends highlight both the potential for change at company level and the scale of the challenge facing the wider textile industry.

Action Cohort: Textile Exchange’s new initiative designed to help scale preferred production systems

Textile Exchange has published new guidance to help brands and retailers participating in its Action Cohort prepare for upcoming reporting and target-setting requirements. Earlier this year, the organization evolved its membership to create more action-oriented pathways, designed to accelerate progress toward scaling preferred production systems that create beneficial impacts and resilient supply chains and livelihoods.

Textile Exchange reports growth in certifications and industry engagement

Textile Exchange has published its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting continued growth in certified sites, industry participation and the development of its standards and membership structure. According to the report, more than 100,000 sites worldwide are now certified to Textile Exchange standards, more than three times the number recorded in 2020. Preliminary figures also indicate 12% year-on-year growth across the organization's current standards, including the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) and the Responsible Animal Fiber standards.

Three projects from the UK, Korea and China have been selected as winners of the ITMF Sustainability & Innovation Award 2026.
